Start by removing the hinge closest to the binding point.

Use a hinge leaf as a template to make a cardboard shim that you can slip behind the leaf. Clear any paint from the slots in the hinge screws and remove them. Spray the hinges with lubrication. If your door binds at the hinges squeals during closing or stops almost immediately when pushed to close.

This should prevent the door from sticking against the wall s surface on the hinge side. If a hinge leaf is recessed below the surface of the jamb or the door edge the door will not close well and the hinge will bend when you close it. Protruding screw heads and badly placed hinge flaps can stop a door from closing and even damage the door. Most problems with binding doors occur with the hinges.

Once sure the binding doors issue is resolved screw in the other screws to fully reattach the door. Open the door fully and then put a wedge under it. A door with an exposed hinge will exhibit the problem of the door binding to the frame on the lock side.
